Someone tried to argue to me that the fact allistic people find autistic traits distrustful isn't ableism. Which is like?! That is the very definition of ableism. Like you are being distrustful of a person because they are autistic. Yes it is an belief you may have been taught at an early age without the word "autism" attached to it but it was still ableist. It was still causing harm to autistic people as nearly all of us have experienced people being hateful towards us immediately after meeting us. Never knowing what we did that made this person hate us. Now I know it's because of "thin-slice judgements" they notice the lack of eye contact or slight movements are have instant negative views.
Hell, my ex-friend after three years just saw me stim in a more noticeable way once and decided I was violent. Despite knowing me for three years and having enough information to know I wasn't violent, somehow covering ears and rocking changed her entire mind.
